At the heart of the IHG Owners Association mission and purpose is its Committee structure and process. Commitment to our Committee process provides a framework for each owner to succeed and for guests to make IHG brands their hotels of choice. To serve our members, and all IHG owners, our Committees devote weeks of time studying, discussing and reaching consensus on initiatives that affect not only owners but also our guests.
Initiatives reviewed by the Committees are generated by both IHG and the Association, with IHG generally addressing issues related to guest preferences and brands and the Association addressing owner interests and concerns. Each initiative is presented for evaluation to the relevant Committee, which then engages in discussion about its merits. Endorsed initiatives are directed to the IHG Owners Association Board for final endorsement and then to IHG for standards review and communication to the hotels for implementation.
Committee Structure & Operations
The Committees are aligned to reflect the IHG organization structure, ensuring consistency in addressing important issues. Committee types include Brand, Global Enterprise and Regional. Each Committee creates milestones, action plans and scorecards to monitor progress toward the goals it has defined. Committee members not only discuss proposed initiatives but also seek and report feedback from the broader membership, respond to performance data and brainstorm new ideas.
The Chairs of each Committee report to the IHG Owners Association Board of Directors. The Board is headed by the Association Chairman, who serves a one-year term. Board members are elected by the membership and made up of Officers of the Association as well as many of the Committee chairs. Key IHG brand partners also have seats on the Board. The Board’s role is to lead the Association by directing strategy and by reviewing initiatives and endorsing standards brought forth by the Committees.
